نظام فض المنازعات في منظمة التجارة العالمية: دراسة مسحية تحليلية

Abstract

The year 1995 saw the establishment of theWorld Trade Organization (WTO) after the very long years and marathons of the GATT arrangements and negotiations. The birth of such an organization has been hailed by some as the most important event at the international economy level in the twentieth Century, or the completion of the ‘third pillar’ of the world economy system as some would like to describe the incident. On the other hand, some analysts and commentators have skeptical view about its existence. This paper examines one aspect of the role played by the organization in managing the international economy affairs through an analytical survey of the dispute settlement system of the organization from the inception year up to December 2010. Particular attention is paid to the disputes related to Arab and Muslim countries to foresee some of the challenges and/or opportunities that this organization may pose to these countries.
