| Résumé: | A solid foundation in work methodology and terminology gives first-year Bachelor of
Science students the knowledge and skills to explore key aspects of scientific research, paving
the way for a thriving career in biology. This module provides a comprehensive set of tools
to help students deepen the essential knowledge that will prepare them to excel in the field of
scientific research. Students will begin to understand the language of science through
terminology. They will then learn how writing a scientific report is also the most common
scientific communication. Mastering this essential skill leads to better collaboration and easier
access to interdisciplinary knowledge. Although a scientific report provides a formal version
of the results of a scientific experiment or project. It is basically a method to communicate
and transfer knowledge with other people in the same field. Subsequently, students will learn
to read, analyse and understand scientific articles in a critical manner. They will be ready to
actively participate in scientific discussions and effectively communicate your research results
to the scientific community. The skill targeted by this module, as a whole, is “helping students
to design research methods and synthesis of work according to scientific rules”, besides, to
acquire the skills necessary to rigorously evaluate the scientific quality of different types of
scientific documents (reports and articles). It is a complex performance, which they will
gradually build by mastering knowledge, implementing skills, and doing it with interpersonal
skills. |
