Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to shed light on the concept of sustainable development. It is necessary to understand the links between the theme of development and peace. In so doing, the focal point will be on the economic dimensions of this concept and the disparities between the haves and the have-nots. Sustainable development can be perceived as a positive step in today‟s world. It has become the major concern of the United Nations, non-governmental organizations and governments of the industrialized countries. It is suggested that sustainable development cannot be achieved unless peace, democracy and human rights are prevailed and respected
