Résumé: | R. Venkata Rao developed the JAYA optimization algorithm in 2016. This algorithm always tries to get closer to success (i.e. achieve the best solution) and avoids failure (i.e. get away from the worst solution). The word JAYA is a word from a very ancient dialect, Sanskrit, which means victory. The JAYA as it was designed addresses continuous variable optimization problems.
In this Master 2 thesis, we were interested in this very recent algorithm in order to apply it in optimal mechanical design. However, most mechanical problems depend on continuous and discrete variables. After implementing the algorithm in its continuous version, one has started modifying it so that it could handle both continuous and discrete variables. Two mechanical devices were considered in this thesis, the first relating to the minimization of the weight of a traction/compression spring used to validate the program developed and the
second, which constitutes our Master 2 project, concerns the minimization of the volume of a two-stage planetary gear train. This problem with constraints has been successfully addressed. The program developed for the JAYA algorithm under Matlab environment has led to promising results |
