Résumé: | In the present work, we have used the metal deposition process for the coloring of two types of glass, soda lime glass and borosilicate glass. A parametric study was undertaken to determine the influence of the composition of the glass, as well as that of the heat treatments, on the structural changes of painted glass. The characterization was done by means of UV-Vis spectroscopy and the nano indentation technique.
Through the tests carried out, we were able to conclude that the diffusion and the size of the silver nanoparticles formed in the borosilicate glass are less important than those of the nanoparticles formed in the soda-lime glass, consequently the coloration of the soda-lime glasses is more intense. The nano indentation tests allowed us to deduce that when the metal ions diffuse in the glass and form silver nano clusters, the structure of the glass is polymerized and consequently the painted glasses have better mechanical properties. |
