Résumé: Astigmatism, which is very common in children especially in school, is a frequent reason for consultation in ophthalmology. It is represented by all situations where the optical system of the eye does not allow to focus the image of an object on the retina. We did a study on 100 astigmate children between the ages of 6 and 14. The female sex was predominant with girls. Symptomatology was dominated by decreased visual acuity. Astigmatism is a preventable cause of low vision. The 6-11 age group had the majority of astigmates. Amblyopia was found in 35% of patients. Amblyopia was primarily aided by anisoastigma. The prevalence of strabismus was 4%. It was amblyogenic in 2 cases. Optical correction was prescribed in all children. In the case of amblyopia, rehabilitation was based on discontinuous occlusions until isoacuity was obtained. The longer the child was aged, the longer the recovery period. Maintenance treatment, which can last up to several years, consisted of alternating occlusion. Astigmatism is a curable amenetropy. An awareness for early consultation would make it possible to detect astigmatism early in order to avoid complications
