Résumé: Esotropia is a problem of parallelism of the visual axes, characterized by an eye oriented inwards. It is also known as convergent strabismus. It is most often congenital or acquired during the first years of life. Young children with this disorder fail to move their eyes in a coordinated way. This defect has sometimes-harmful consequences on vision, with aesthetic and social repercussions. Among the objectives of the treatment of an esotropia, the treatment of the amblyopia if there is one, the normalization of the visual acuity of each eye and the elimination of the deviation. Our study is retrospective. It relates to 30 cases of esotropia acquired in subjects seen at the specialized consultation of strabology, and taken care of at the level of the ophthalmology service of the ENT in Sétif. The treatment protocol followed consists in initially prescribing total optical correction after retinoscope under cycloplegia. If we faced with amblyopia, we perform an occlusion of the good eye, until we obtain alternation and isoacuity. This reduces strabismos deviation. At the end of this work, we obtained the following results: Our series shows a clear female predominance with 17 girls, 57%. The presence of an apparent deviation is the main reason for consultation. The deviation predominantly affects the right eye (54%). The existence rate of acquired esotropia is 30%, the majority of which are of the accommodative type (91%). At the final examination, visual acuity with correction improved in all the patients who found themselves in isoacuity with elimination of the angle of deviation.
