Résumé: | The effect of biofouling on the hulls of ships is one of the major problems resulting from the immersion of materials in the marine environment, one of the remedies for this phenomenon is the use of "antifouling-antifouling" paints based on of copper. An antifouling is an antifouling paint which releases toxins (biocides) in order to slow down the development of algae and shells on the hull of the boat.
The main objective of this work; it is the optimization of an antifouling coating based on two types of resin: polyester and acrylic, heavily loaded with copper powder. The elaboration is done in two main stages; where wooden substrates (oak and beech) were prepared, and also a jute/polyester composite material was developed for use as a substrate and to carry out a study close to maritime reality. Then, 4 different mixtures of antifouling paint were prepared by varying the type of resin and the copper content.
In order to identify the different characteristics of the antifouling paint produced, in particular the surface condition, the adhesion and the hardness of the coating; a comparative study was carried out with different tests: the adhesion test, the wear test, measurement of the roughness, observation of the surface condition, measurement of the micro-hardness and the study distribution of copper grains.
All the results show that mixture 3 of the antifouling paint, which is based on acrylic resin with a high copper content, is the best antifouling mixture. The latter represents a good surface condition (less rough), good wear resistance and better hardness |
