Résumé: A new additive manufacturing process for metal parts, based on the arc welding process called CMT (Cold Metal Transfer), is being studied with the aim of realising crowns that are formed by the superposition of many of the Al-5Mg aluminum alloy layers and its mechanical and microstructural characterization. The CMT process makes it possible to control the melting of aluminum wire and its deposition in the form of layers on the surface of the substrate sheet.Several geometric defects were observed, and the conditions of their appearance analyzed, thanks in particular to the use of an optical microscope. Understanding the relationships between process parameters, heat and material transfer mechanisms, and crown geometry, has made it possible to correct these defects by identifying and then modifying the process parameters responsible for their appearance.
