Résumé: | Anorthite- and mullite-based ceramics are advanced materials, widely used in various industrial applications because of their exceptional properties. The subject of this thesis is the development and characterisation of porous ceramics based on anorthite and mullite, with the aim of studying the effect of glass grain sizes and the influence of kaolin content (15, 25 and 35%) on their properties. These ceramics are made from ceramic waste (glass and marble), gibbsite and kaolin. This study was carried out by examining all the stages in the manufacture of the ceramics, from the input of raw materials to the finished product: preparation of the powders, shaping, drying, deglazing and sintering at 1000, 1200 and 1300°C. Various physical characterisation techniques were used in this study, including the measurement of density, porosity, shrinkage, mass loss and indirect tensile strength. The results show that the addition of kaolin reduces mechanical strength and increases porosity. In addition, the larger size of the glass particles also results in greater porosity. |
