Résumé: The superfinishing study of the mechanical parts is motivated by multiple interests related on the one hand to the needs of increase of the performances and the reliability of the mechanical systems solicited more and more severely. On the other hand, the savings of increasing the service life and improving the efficiency of these mechanical parts. The belt grinding is a superfinishing process more and more used in the automotive industry, in addition to hard turning. The belt grinding is advanced finishing process variant whose particularity lies in its thermal neutrality. This is a recent finishing process, so that the working mechanisms of this process and its influence on the integrity and functionality of the surfaces remains a vague domain. Indeed, it gives good quality surfaces with geometric tolerances more precise. These advantages interest more and more the industrialists. The belt grinding of complicated shapes begins to replace other processes such as grinding. This study establishes the belt grinding performance compared to other methods because it keeps the surface condition in stable condition and improved whatever the surface state from conventional methods.
