Résumé: | This study was an attempt to reveal the different applications and implementations of the fair value in the Islamic banks, as well as to measure the effect resulting from this implementation.
The theoretical part of this study touched upon the various literature reviews, that dealt with accounting measurement in both traditional and Islamic thought. Whereas, in the practical part, the study was based on two criteria: first, we investigated the case of Qatar Islamic Bank in isolation starting from 2009 to 2016. The aim of such an endeavor was to demonstrate to what extent the bank utilizes the concept of the fair value in the bank and the ways and styles in which this concept is being applied. The second criterion was much more focused on measuring the concept’s effect on the financial statements on the Islamic banks. This could be achieved by utilizing the Panel Data Method to examine a sample of ten (10) Islamic banks from 2009 to 2016. Also. By making use of unit roots examinations of the Panel Data, common integration. As regarding the estimation of the effect of the fair value variable on the income statement and holder's equity, we utilized the PMG method to reveal whether, there would be a different before and after the implementation of the IFRS13.
This study could argue that the implementation of the fair value in the Islamic banks is quite limited in so far as its value and scope of application is concerned; for it has adopted a very small set of Islamic monetary instruments. We could also deduce that there is a great effect in the application of the fair value on holders' equity, Islamic banks income in the long run. In the short run, however, its effect is limited only to holder's equity as had been revealed by the application of the IFRS13 before and after only on income statement. |
